In his efforts to burst educational sector and support less privilege in the society, Senator Ibrahim Lamido, representing Sokoto East senatorial district has awarded scholarship to 30 orphans and vulnerable children from sokoto state to study various courses at Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria in Kano.
The beneficiaries of the scholarship which includes 26 boys and 4 girls, and its covers tuition fee, feeding and accommodation and stipends on monthly basis for the period of study.
Professor Mu’azu Alhaji Shamaki of department of Geography Usman Danfodio Sokoto who represent the senator said Ibrahim Lamido had previously sponsored 40 students to study different courses in India, is a person with a vision and mission in transformation of educational sector in Nigeria.

“We urged this students to stay focused because this university teaches some of the best emerging course like Artificial Intelligence and software engineering which not all the conventional universities did, so we want this students to punctual in their studies,” said professor Mu’azu.
“I am happy with what the founder of this school professor Gwarzo said that this is not the place to buy certificate, boys to be engaging with love for the ladies or irresponsible behaviors,” he said.
Professor Mu’azu who double as head of department of demography and social statistics federal university Birnin Kebbi urged well to do individuals especially politicians in the society to be up and going in supporting orphans and vulnerable children in the society.
