The statement explained that, as an organization engaged in promoting health and the environment, REMAPSEN is deeply troubled by the heavy losses of human life and the devastating humanitarian consequences.

Bamba explained that, REMAPSEN remains deeply committed to promoting health and the environment, acknowledging the tragic consequences of ongoing conflicts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

“We cannot overlook the hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries resulting from this barbarity,” stated REMAPSEN’s President, Bamba Youssouf.

He emphasized the organization’s dedication to supporting the people of the DRC, a nation rich in resources.

President Youssouf also extended his thoughts to REMAPSEN colleagues in the DRC who are directly affected by the conflict.

He remarked, “Whether at the central, regional, or national levels, we stand with our people.”

GLOBAL TRACKER recalled that the conflict in eastern DRC has led to hundreds of deaths, thousands of injuries, and mass displacements.

The situation remains unstable, with various armed groups, including the M23 rebel group, involved in the violence.

REMAPSEN’s position aligns with the African Union’s ongoing efforts to foster peace and stability in the region.

The African Union has been actively working to address the crisis through the Nairobi and Luanda processes, which focus on promoting dialogue and reconciliation among the parties involved.
