Feb 13, 2025

A violent confrontation between operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and personnel of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) in Ore, Ondo State, has resulted in an injury and the disappearance of two police officers.

The incident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. on Feb 12, 2025 at the premises of Ade-Olap Global Resources Ltd, an officially approved security post along the Ore–Sagamu Expressway.

Intelligence sources told security  analyst and counter-insurgency expert in Lake chad region and west Africa Zagazola Makama that a convoy of NSCDC personnel, comprising a gun truck and three Hilux vehicles, arrived at the location without prior notification. Upon disembarking, the NSCDC operatives allegedly attempted to disarm the PMF personnel lawfully stationed at the post.

A scuffle ensued, leading to an accidental discharge that injured an NSCDC officer in the leg. The situation escalated into chaos, during which the whereabouts of two PMF officers on duty at the company became unknown.

It was later confirmed that the NSCDC team was on a national assignment in collaboration with officials of the Ministry of Mines from Abuja.

Efforts are underway to secure the release of the missing police officers, while the injured NSCDC operative is receiving medical attention.

Both authorities have commenced consultations to resolve the matter and prevent further escalation.
