As the 2027 presidential election approaches, the debate about second term bids is once again taking center stage.
While some argue that term limits are essential to prevent the concentration of power and promote fresh perspectives, others believe that a second term can provide continuity and stability, allowing the president to build on their accomplishments and finish their agenda, I am amongst those who believe in continuity, consistency and progress, even though is gradual.
If you are reading this, consider my piece as rejoinder on the recent response made by ACF Arewa Consultative forum, against our able, respected party chairman. Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who enjoined northerners to wait president Bola Ahmed Tinubu to finish before contesting, During inauguration of a new political wing under APC Tinubu Northern Nigeria Youth forum.(TNNYF)

WHY TINUBU ?
One of the primary advantages of Tinubu second term is the experience and institutional knowledge that the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu has gained during his first term as a president,as Lagos State Governor and as Father of the Party (APC)which lead to president Mohammadu Buhari’s victory 2015 and 19 respectively despite the squerble.
Having navigated the complexities of the office, like foreign interests which constantly intriguing, demanding, thus sensitive and difficult decisions like subsidy removal and little adjustments in foreign policy, and gaining more in fighting Bandits, kidnappers and Boko Haram, and given listening ears from the grassroots complaints.
I think President Tinubu is better equipped to tackle the challenges that lie ahead.
On the AREWA Consultative forum, I think there’s a huge misconceptions that lies between them and the presidency somewhere.
It could be recalled That Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) hasn’t entirely ruled out supporting President Tinubu’s second term bid, meanwhile ,there are indications that “they might not back him in 2027. According to Mamman Osuman, the suspended National Chairman of the ACF, the north might support a candidate from the region”. An utterance that lead ACF cracked.
It seems the ACF is considering alternative options, possibly due to concerns about Tinubu’s economic policies and their impact on the northern region. However, it’s essential to note that the ACF hasn’t made a final decision, and the situation might evolve…
The Chairman TINUBU Northern youth forum, Hon Auwal Ibrahim Sansani, have also weighed in on the matter, stating that the north is tillting towards supporting Tinubu’s 2027 bid ¹. If consider the current trajectories that are taking shape.
This suggests that the region is keeping its options open, and the ACF’s stance might not be the final word of the entire northern region.
The ACF is said to involved in various activities wich includes :
1. To promote the unity and solidarity of the people of Northern Nigeria
2. To protect and promote the cultural heritage of the region
3. To support economic development initiatives that benefit the people of the region
4. To advocate for the rights and interests of the people of Northern Nigeria at the national level.
President Tinubu stands for the same purpose.I think ACF should be pertner in progress instead of making derrigetory statement in the name of being regional pillers.
CONTINUITY AND STABILITY
President Tinubu’s second term can also provide continuity and stability, which are essential for economic growth, national security, and social progress. By maintaining the same leadership but different pertanes .
the country can avoid the disruptions and uncertainties that often accompany a transition of power ². This stability can foster investor confidence, promote business growth, and ensure that long-term projects and initiatives are seen through to completion.
MANDATE FOR PROGRESS
A presidential second term bid can also be seen as a mandate for progress. Having been re-elected, the president has a renewed mandate to implement their policies and programs, which can lead to significant advancements in areas such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure development ³. This mandate can also provide the president with the leverage they need to push through difficult reforms and negotiate with opposing parties.

In conclusion, supporting President Tinubu second term bid can be a call for continuity, stability, and progress. By engaging state actors and non state actors like AREWA Consultative forum, and any other organisation by lending hand in contribution on how to make things right than sitting criticising and banking on our differences that’s what unit us.
Let’s work together through collective effort in ensuring the re-electing president Tinubu so that , the country can benefit from their experience, institutional knowledge, and mandate for progress. While concerns about term limits are valid, they should not be used to restrict the will of the people or prevent a president from continuing their work.
