The member state of the African Union (AU has unanimously elected the Djiboutian diplomat and foreign minister as the new chairperson of the African Union Commission.
He has served in the government of Djibouti as Minister of Foreign Affairs since 2005.
The union also elect Selma Malika of Algeria as the new deputy chairperson.

The dua will led the mantle of the union leadership for the next one year.
