The Civil Society in Malaria Control Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) has visited Zakirai town, the headquarters of Gabasawa local government as part of State Advocacy Team (SAT) consultation to stakeholders in the area.
Malam Sharif Abubakar, the State Program Officer (SPO) of ACOMIN in Kano said the visit is aimed at engagements of stakeholders on the need of fencing and power provision at Yama-Kanawa health post in Yumbu ward and addressing shortage of staff and fencing of Wasarde health post all in Gabasawa local government area.
The SPO solicit the support of stakeholders on the need of continue sensitizing the general public on the taking ownership of healthcare facilities.
In a remark, the Primary Healthcare Coordinator (PHCC) of Gabasawa Abba Ahmad commended the SAT for their commitment, noting that all the raised issues was acknowledged, adding that the local government administration will soon embark of renovation of many health facilities.
He said N129,000,000.00 each was set aside for the total renovation and reconstruction of five (5) facilities as well as renovation of twenty (20) others so as to improve the health status of people in the area.
Meanwhile, the SAT has visited Nazifi Ado, the Gabasawa local government director personnel management on the raised issue at the PHCC’s office.
Ado, who well come the team assured that the local council led by Pharmacist Sagiru Usman has embarked on renovations and sponsorship of students to medical courses in different higher educations schools across the states to boosts healthcare sector in the area.
“We have embarked on renovations of healthcare facilities and upgrading of small facilities to support the system, we have also arrange a time-to-time unscheduled visit to various facilities for motivations and rewarding hardworking staffs,” he added.
