Police Arrest Two Motorcycle Rustlers, Recover Valuables in Jigawa

The Jigawa state police command says it has arrested two suspected motorcycle rustlers in possession of stolen vehicle in Fagam and Babaldu all in Gwaram local government area of the state.

SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the command public relations officer in a statement which was made available to journalist in Dutse, the state capital identified the suspect as Haruna Alhaji Yusuf and Magaji Babaldu.

According to the statement, at about 2020hrs, on 5/03/2025, Fagam Divisional Police Headquarters received a complaint that, one Idris Ya’u ‘m’ age 22yrs of Gwani village, Fagam town, who is an okada rider conveyed passenger from Gwani village to Haya village.

It said at a point between the two villages, the aforementioned passenger ordered the cyclist to come to a halt while pretending to answer a phone call.

In the process, the passenger struck the rider on the head with a stick. From there, he felt unconscious, and the passenger went away with the Bajaj red motorcycle with registration number TRN 704 QL Kano.

It went further to say following a tip-off, on 12/03/2025 at about 0600hrs, one Haruna Alhaji Yusuf ‘m’ age 30yrs of Kafin Tugga village was arrested with the motorcycle.

Upon investigation, the suspect confessed to the alleged crime against him.

Meanwhile, at about 1940hrs, on 13/03/2024 policemen on routine patrol along Jigawa State Legislative Quarters heard a call for assistance.

When the team arrived at the scene, they discovered a young man, later identified as a cyclist bearing Yunusa Suleman ‘m’ age 30yrs of G-9 Quarters unconscious, who suspected an unidentified person had stolen his motorcycle.

The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment. While the other team, in collaboration with vigilantes, cordoned off the area to apprehend the perpetrators.

Fortunately, the suspect, Magaji Mohammed ‘m’ age 30yrs of Babaldu town, was arrested while in possession of a motorcycle.

Investigation revealed that the suspect had hired a cyclist and instructed him to drive him to the government house’s Unity Pentagon roundabout. When he arrived at Dasina Quarters, where his criminal partner was located, he requested the cyclist to stop.

One Suleiman Nasaru ‘m’ of Ningi LGA Bauchi State who is now at large, appeared and hit the okada rider on his head with a hammer. As a result, the cyclist fell unconscious and fled with the motorcycle.

While the investigation is ongoing, one Idris Abdulaziz ‘m’ of Jigawar Tsada emerged and identified the suspect as the one who robbed him of his motorcycle boxer near the matrix filling station along Ibrahim Aliyu Bypass on March 12, 2025.

Investigation is ongoing, and once completed, all suspects arrested will be prosecuted accordingly.
