The Russian federation and United States officials will hold talks on Ukraine in Saudi Arabia on Monday.

President Vladimir Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov has said this to newsmen in Moscow on Thursday.

The development comes nearly two days after Russian president Vladimir Putin and his counterpart of US Donald Trump phone-call each other on the need of 30-days ceasefire which Putin disagree insisting on lasting peace.

During the call, US and Russian Presidents agreed that the war between Russia and Ukraine must end with a “lasting peace” and that negotiations to that end would begin immediately, the White House said.

The leaders agreed that the move toward peace would begin with a ceasefire in the energy and infrastructure sectors, as well as technical negotiations to implement a ceasefire in the Black Sea, a full ceasefire and lasting peace, according to a statement released after the call.

“These negotiations will begin immediately in the Middle East,” the document added.

Putin agreed to Trump’s proposal that Russia and Ukraine stop striking each other’s energy infrastructure for 30 days. Russian media reported that after the call with Trump, Putin ordered the military to halt attacks on these targets for 30 days.

The Kremlin said the two leaders had a “detailed and frank exchange of views” on Ukraine.

The Kremlin stressed that the “key condition” for preventing further escalation of the conflict is a “complete cessation” of foreign military assistance and intelligence sharing with Ukraine.

The two leaders agreed that the future of improved bilateral relations between the United States and Russia holds great promise.

This includes major economic deals and geopolitical stability once peace is achieved, the White House said in a statement.
