Kano State Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has donated 1 million naira to the Radio, Television, Theatre, and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) to support its members, especially during the Sallah festival.
The Commissioner made the donation during the distribution of cash gifts to RATTAWU members and the families of deceased members, enabling them to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr with joy.
Comrade Waiya stated that the donation was aimed at complementing the efforts of the RATTAWU executive members in improving the welfare of their members.

Responding to their request for government support in acquiring a permanent office, the Commissioner assured them that he would forward their request to the Governor.
Waiya emphasized that he is a friend of the media and will do everything possible to support them, in line with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s policy of prioritizing journalists’ welfare, as he has declared this year the “Year of Journalists.”
Speaking at the event, the Kano State Chairman of RATTAWU, Babangida Mahmuda Biyamusu, stated that the 1 million naira cash donation was initiated to support members, particularly during the Sallah festival.
The Chairman stated that it was the tradition of Union to organize iftar for the members but now decided to give 1 million cash gifts to them instead of the iftar.
He thanked the Commissioner for the the donation of 1 million naira to the union even though he was invited to bless the occasion.
He also solicited the Kano State Government’s support in securing a permanent office and sponsoring members to attend the National Conference, where new national executive members will be elected.
