FGDRI Calls on NSA, Police to Probe Killings of Fulani Herders in Kogi, Enugu, Others

BySani Magaji Garko

Mar 29, 2025

The Fulbe Global Development and Rights Initiatives (FGDRI) has urged the National security adviser, the Department of state security service and the inspector general of police to as a matter of national security ordered thorough and transparent investigations to unravel the killing of five (5) members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Enugu and Kogi state.

Salim Musa Umar, the president of FGDIR disclosed this in a statement sent to GLOBAL TRACKER.

According to the statement, five MACBAN leaders were killed on March 14, 2025, the killing of the Fulbe leader in Ilorin on the 9th March, 2025 and that of MACBAN leader Muhammad Adamu in Barikin Ladi of Plateau state on March 19, 2025 is unacceptable.

The statement reads “The Fulbe Global Development and Rights Initiative (FGDRI) is compelled to urgently draw the attention of the Inspector General of Police, the Director of the Department of State Security, the Chief of Defense Staff and the Military Service Chiefs as well as the Commandant General of Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) on the recent wanton and incessant killings of innocent Fulani, their herdsmen and community leaders.

The rampant and incessant killings all over the country is a matter that should be of great concern to all peace loving and law-abiding citizens.

It is becoming apparent that some notorious hate purveyors are succeeding in their long-drawn campaign of gross hatred of pitching criminally minded and violent individuals and lawless groups to embark on a killing orgy. All we have witnessed coming through over the years which is manifestly clear is akin to the Rwandan episode.

With cogent and verifiable hard evidence, we envisage that an ugly episode or episodes are being purposefully pursued. This has to be brought under control.

The overwhelming number of Fulanis and the herders are law abiding, respectful, kind and hospitable people pursuing their lawful endeavours as citizens of this country.

We as a group are not with any deviant, as they do not enjoy our support and indeed will never enjoy our support, except they make a complete and absolute turn. Right is right wrong is wrong anyday and anywhere.

We call on the Inspector General of Police to please use his good offices to unravel the killing of the five members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) at the Enugu/Kogi on March 14, 2025, the killing of the Fulbe leader in Ilorin on the 09th March, 2025 and that of MACBAN leader Muhammad Adamu in Barikin Ladi in Plateau State on March 19, 2025. Everyone will agree that the killings being done is almost simultaneous.

The Office of the National Security Adviser, the DSS and the IGP should please urgently investigate the destructive inciter who goes by the name “Jaruma Hausa” and find out who her sponsors and financiers are. It is absolutely necessary because her very inflammatory incitements can easily lead to a massive breakdown of law and order.
