Enhancing Local Security: Kebbi, Sokoto Should Re-engage Ex-Service Men, Says Colonel Yombe

Colonel Samaila Yombe Dabai Rtd, the former Deputy Governor of Kebbi state has advised the engagement of local Security and re-calling of ex-service security men to make impact towards addressing security challenge being faced as a result of Lakurawa terrorists attacks in Kebbi and Sokoto states.

The former Deputy Governor while speaking journalist emphasized that local Security vigilante, has the knowledge of the terren of areas the bandits operations in the affected states.

The vigilante’s if well equiped with modern weapons can be at the proximity of the areas engaging the bandits while waiting for the normal security forces to engage them in the fight.

He said, recalling the Ex-Service security men will only need little training such as weapon handling and fist craft to enable them go back to battle field which is another way of sorting out the deficiency of security personnel.

According to him, the governments should also take adequate measures on securing the porous borders where the bandits get access to come into the country from the neighboring countries.

Colonel Yombe, quoted the statement of the Chief of Defence, General Christopha Musa saying, there is the need for the local content to help the armed forces in the fight against insecurity in the country.

He advised that, government should protect the people of their lives and property as communities reallying on the government for protection to go about their daily live activities.
