A severe flood, has submarged three communities in Argungu local government area of Kebbi state, destroying over 200 houses and displacing large number of residents.
The flood occurred on Saturday through Sunday morning following a heavy downpour that lasted for hours, affecting villages of Bayawa, Tiggi, Fakon Sarki Settlement, and KARDA Area in Argungu town.
The Kebbi state Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar, who visited the affected areas to assess the level damage and offer support to the affected victims, directed an immediate assessment of the affected houses and instructed for the compilation of a list of victims and their lost property.

He also directed for the evacuation of people to nearby schools for their safety and provision of emergency relief assistance.
The Deputy Governor has provided five million Naira to each affected village – Bayawa, Tiggi, and Fakon Sarki as initial support and one million Naira for the purchase of food and drinks for the displaced persons.
Senator Umar Abubakar, assured the victims of forwarding the report of the incident to the state governor to secure further assistance from the state and federal government.
The flood has rendered many homeless, with some seeking temporary shelter in nearby schools.
