NiYEL and SWOCHI Advocate for Community Engagement to End Vaccine Stigma in Kano

An International Campaigns, Advocacy and Public Affairs Firm (NiYEL) and Society for Women and Children Health Initiatives (SWOCHI) has advocate for the full community and stakeholders engagements in fighting against vaccination stigma in Kano state.

The advocacy comes as part of celebration of African Vaccination week which start 24 April and ends 30th April, annually.

SWOCHI Kano state program officer Alhaji Lawal Abdussalam disclosed this at a dialogue with community members especially women held in Kano on Thursday.

The program officer said the women were strategically selected so as the larger society would be reached through step-down engagement and discussion.

The theme of this year’s African vaccination week is “Humanly Possible” which focused on the ability of human being in building future free from disability.

During the campaign, SWOCHI has paid an advocacy to stakeholders, organized a community dialogue, make both online and offline media mobilization and activities aimed at achieving the set objectives.

Ismail Muhammad is the representatives of district head of Kumbotso local government area in Kano state and he assured Volunteer Community Mobilizers (VCM) that the Emir of Kano, the office of district head as well as all ward head in the area will work closely in breaking any obstacle with make any vaccination un successful.

He urged well to do individual in the society and stakeholders to joined hand with SWOCHI and othe relevant bodies in sensitizing the general public on the importance of vaccine to public health.

In a remark, the presentative of Tarauni local government immunization Alhaji Abba Dahiru commended NiYEL for supporting the sensitization which will go long way in fighting communicable diseases in the society.

He assured that the local government council will continue to support nongovernmental organizations capable of fighting communicable disease.
