Prof. Maigari, Bags Award for Contributions to Educational Development in Gombe

The association of Women In Colleges of Education, (WICE) Federal college of Education, Technical Gombe today presented a Certificate of Award to the Gombe State Commissioner of Education Prof Aishatu Umar Maigari for her outstanding contributions to the association and the education sector at large.

The chairperson of the association Hajiya Ramatu Mahdi while making the presentation describes Aishatu Umar Maigari as a committed, humble and dedicated personality with excellent academic track records who rose from an Assistant lecturer to a Chief Lecturer in the College. She has served WICE as Chairperson of the Electoral Committee twice.

Mrs. Ramatu Mahdi said based on her numerous contributions in that regard, the association unanimously endorsed her for the award to ginger others in the academic cycle and beyond to follow suit.

Responding, the Hon Commissioner of Education Prof Aishatu Umar Maigari commended the organizers of the event for finding her worthy of the award and promised to do more for the progress of women in the academia.

She describes Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya as a He4She Governor that always listens and acts swiftly on the yearnings and aspirations of women folk in the state.

The Hon Commissioner cited the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) which she describes as one of the baby projects of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya geared towards supporting girl child education in the state.

She assured of continued government support for education to thrive through improved teaching and learning at all levels.

Other recipients of the Award includes the SUBEB Full time Member 2, Dr Hauwa Yahaya, Gombe State Project Coordinator of AGILE Project and one time chairperson of the association, Dr. Amina H. Abdul represented by Dr Hauwa Haruna and other former Executives of the Association among others.

The event also featured presentation of cheques to the retired members as part of welfare pack by the association.
