The Civil Society in Malaria Control Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) has visited the director DLdirector mobilization and community engagement of the Kano state Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA) Hajiya Zahra Ishaq Muktar Kura and requested for the construction of toilets and hand pumps boreholes over fifteen health post across 10 local government areas of Kano state.
The Kano state program officer of ACOMIN Malam Sharif Abubakar stated this in an exclusive interview with GLOBAL TRACKER correspondent in Kano.
According to him, over the past months, civil society organizations working with ACOMIN has identified an urgent need for improved water supply and sanitation infrastructure in different health facilities across the state.

“ACOMIN respectfully request for the construction of boreholes and toilets in at Yalwa karama HP in Tofa LGA, Dantsinke PHC and Kundila PHC, in Tarauni LGA, Darki PHC in Wudil LGA, Kundu PHC and ruwan kanya HP in Rano LGA, Sani A.Awa HP in Bichi LGA, Goron maje HP in Danbatta LGA, Zakirai CHC in Gabasawa LGA, Matage PHC in Dawakin kudu LGA, and jirgawa HP and kunya danbawa HP in Minjibir LGA, Dausayi HP and Tsamiya HP in Ungogo LGA. On the issue of Toilet, the problem rose from Matage HP in Dawakin kudu LGA Jirgabawa HP and kunya Danbawa HP in Minjibir LGA, kundu HP and ruwan kanya HP in Rano LGA as well as Tsamiya HP in Ungogo LGA,” said Sharif.
Meanwhile, ACOMIN has also visited Pharmacist Baba Dala, Logistics and supply officer, Kano state Malaria Elimination Program and sought for his intervention so as to tackles malaria commodities cut-off at facilities and work closely with healthcare professionals for accurate Data records and entry.
“Over the past months, we have identified an urgent need for the supply of malaria commodities Gaya – Maimakawa HP, Gachi HP; Ungogo – Dausayi HP, Tsamiya HP; Tarauni – Kundila PHC, Dantsinke PHC; Wudil-Fadi Sank HP, Darki PHC; Danbatta -Goron Maje HP, Women Center HP; Rano – Kundu PHC, Ruwan Kanya PHC; D/kudu – Matage HP, Unguwar Fawa PHC; Gabasawa – Zakirai PHC; Gabasawa MPHC; Bichi – Lamba HP, Sani A. Awa HP; Munjibir – Kunya Danbawa HP, Jirgabawa HP; Kura – Yarkanya HP, Karfi PHC, Tofa Yalwa Karama HP, Tofa PHC; Bunkure Sanda HP and Chirin HP,” said the program officer.
Malam Sharif then commended the commodity supply officer as well as Kano state ministry of health for their commitment in taking steps aimed at safeguarding public health.
