The provost of the Federal College of Agricultural Produce Technology, Kano (FCAPT) Dr. Muhammad Yusha’u Gwaram says the college under his nearly five years have mounted and accredited nine (9) newly programmes at both Higher National Diploma (HND) and National Diploma (ND) in the college as well as the accreditation of the already 13 programmed been executed by the college.
He said under his administration, the college has witness improvements in the repairs of dilapidated infrastructural faculties comprising of students toilets, classrooms, hostels among others.
Dr. Gwaram disclosed this at a press conference to mark his five years achievements at the college from september 2020 to date held in the college on Monday.

According to him, the college has also witnessed and enjoy a 24 hours water supply through the use of solar energy.
“The College acquired a 33KVA Transformer (Blue line) through its internally generated revenue, after payment of the mandatory 25% to CRF. For effective service delivery, solar power has been provided in these critical places: (1) Provost’s office, (2) College Library, (3) College Clinic. In other hand, the College Laboratories and Workshops have been fully renovated and provided with all the necessary facilities for effective teaching learning processes,” said Dr. Gwaram.
“Newly Mounted Programmes at HND; Crop Production Technology, Food Science and Technology, Agricultural Business, Statistics, Animal Production Technology, Software and web development, Networking and Cloud Computing. While at National Diploma (ND) Level we have; Nutrition and Dietetics. Existing Accredited Programmes: Animal Extension and Management, Pest Management Technology and Computer Science. While at National Diploma (ND) we have; Agricultural Technology, Horticultural Technology, Animal Health and Production Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Science Laboratory Technology, Food Science and Technology. While at the level includes Certificate in Food Storage Technology and Certificate in Produce Inspection,” he said.
On the issue of staff development and welfare, the provosts said the substantial members of the staff have attended training programmed including conferences, seminars, and workshops.
“However, 13 staff have acquired PhD most especially in the College mandate; while 33 have acquired M.Sc. Now. the College has 13 PhD holders and 33 M.Sc. holders in just five years since the current administration came into existence. Staff promotions have been conducted regularly and College community have enjoyed various forms of Palliatives and incentives as motivation,” he added.
Dr. Gwaram said the college is currently in collaboration with United Nations Educational Scientific Cultural Organizations (UNESCO) in the area of value chain, trained the trainer with GIZ, international Patato center, Self Help africa among others.
“We have acquired 2 Greenhouse facilities for Students training (Crop Productions Technology, Agric Technology and Horticultural Technology). Improved/renovated the College Meteorological station with modern equipment and trained staff majorly in station for effective data collection and monitoring. Undertaking capacity building programmes for the Kano State Agro pastoral Development Programme (KSADP) in the areas of; Milk and Meat hygiene, Artificial Insemination and Reference Veterinary Laboratory,” he added
