The All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), a professional organization for principals of post-primary schools in Nigeria, Science and Technical Schools Board (STSB) zone in Kano state says all arrangements have been completed for the successful celebration of two-year anniversary of the executive secretary of the Kano State science and technical schools board associate professor Dahiru Sale Mohammed.
Sa’idu Shu’aibu Garko, the principal of government technical college Nassarawa and a member of ANCOPSS hinted this to GLOBAL TRACKER correspondent in Kano on Friday.
According to him, during the anniversary, lots of achievements of the current executive secretary would be showcased with a view to make communication and adjustments were necessary.
He said the executive secretary has been working closely with ANCOPSS, Parents Teachers Association (PTA), School Based Management Committee (SBMC) and all stakeholders in promoting innovations, technology and creativity.
“Associate professor Dahiru Sale Mohammed is a very humble man, he has brought lots of development in the running affairs of the board, he always pays attention to innovation and creativity. His principles line with the engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf’s commitments to education and innovations,” said Sa’idu Garko.
“The executive secretary has been paying too much attention to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program designed by the federal government of Nigeria as a system that provides practical knowledge and skills for employment, entrepreneurship, and workforce development, which focused in bridging the gap between education and the world of work, during the inauguration and implementation meeting of the TVET, Kano has been among leading states courtesy of associate professor because he believed it is only through training and innovations that our students will excelled on be selfreliance,” said Garko.
“On sciences, each time a discussion opened he emphasized on practical knowledge rather than paper theory, because original scientists did everything practical not on paper, that is why every school he visits, almost all the time see or talk on improving laboratory,” he added.
Science and Technical Schools Board, Kano State was established in the year 1977 with the sole aim of producing qualified secondary school students for admission into tertiary institutions and producing over 70% most experienced and professionals medical doctors and engineers in Kano and Jigawa state.
