As the world celebrates International Women’s Day 2026, the Adolescent Health Information Projects (AHIP) has joined the global community in recognizing the invaluable contributions of women to families, communities, and societies.
In a statement marking the occasion, the Executive Director of AHIP, Mairo V. Bello, emphasized the need for greater support and empowerment of women to enable them realize their full potential.
This year’s celebration is themed “Give To Gain,” highlighting the resilience, dedication, and hard work demonstrated by women despite numerous challenges they face in society. The theme also serves as a reminder for women and girls to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to illegal migration and human trafficking.

According to AHIP, empowering women remains essential not only for their personal development but also for the progress and stability of communities.
“Through our programmes, we remain committed to equipping women with the skills, knowledge and resources necessary to become self-reliant, hardworking and dedicated agents of change,” the organization stated.
The group noted that every woman possesses the potential for greatness and that with perseverance, opportunities, and the right support systems, women can achieve remarkable success in different sectors.
AHIP further explained that its initiatives are designed to create opportunities that enable women to develop their talents, take charge of their health, and pursue sustainable livelihoods.
“By investing in women, we are investing in stronger, healthier and more resilient communities,” the statement added.
The organization also called on stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations and the private sector, to strengthen partnerships aimed at promoting women’s empowerment and protection.
AHIP urged collective efforts to ensure that women are not only able to overcome challenges but also thrive while contributing meaningfully to societal development.
The statement reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting women and girls to live safely, independently and with purpose.
