The Forum of APC Ex-Councillors has commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the nomination of Murtala Sule Garo as Deputy Governor of Kano State, describing the decision as thoughtful, strategic, and reflective of a commitment to effective governance.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Sunusi Kata Madobi, the forum said the nomination followed a consultative meeting by its members to review recent political developments in the state.

The group, comprising former councillors from the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State, noted that the Governor’s decision underscores a strong commitment to competence-driven governance and administrative stability. It praised the emphasis on experience, loyalty, and grassroots connection, describing them as essential qualities for strengthening governance delivery and sustaining public confidence.

“The nomination of Hon. Murtala Sule Garo is not only timely but also indicative of His Excellency’s dedication to effective governance. It demonstrates a clear understanding of the need to align leadership capacity with the expectations of the people,” the statement said.

The forum further stated that Garo’s track record in public service, party administration, and political coordination makes him well-positioned to support the Governor in advancing the administration’s development agenda.

It added that the nomination reinforces the importance of continuity, institutional strength, and inclusive governance, noting that Garo’s experience would enhance executive coordination and improve service delivery across the state.

While reaffirming its endorsement, the forum called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stakeholders, and the general public to support the nomination in the interest of unity, stability, and sustained development.

The group also urged political actors to place collective progress above personal interests, stressing that cohesive leadership remains vital for achieving lasting impact.

Reiterating its support for the administration, the forum pledged continued backing for policies and decisions aimed at strengthening governance and improving the welfare of the people in Kano State.
