The Chairman of Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano state Tijjani Amiru Bilyaminu, has ordered the immediate closure of Al-Hadeed Private School following allegations of sexual abuse involving four minor pupils.

The decision came after a teacher at the school, identified as Uncle Kamal, was remanded in custody by a magistrate’s court over allegations of sexually abusing the children.

According to the local government chairman, the closure of the school is aimed at ensuring justice for the victims and allowing security agencies and judicial authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

“The action is necessary to ensure justice for the victims and to make sure the suspect faces the full wrath of the law,” the chairman stated.

Tijjani Amiru Bilyaminu reiterated the commitment of the local government administration to protecting the rights and welfare of children, warning that any individual found violating those rights would face serious consequences.

The accused teacher was arraigned before the court on Monday over allegations involving four children identified as seven-year-old Hassana, Hussaina, Gambo, and their five-year-old sister.

During the court proceedings, the prosecution counsel, Badamasi Gandu, informed the court that medical examinations conducted by doctors confirmed that the children had been sexually assaulted before the suspect was brought before the court.

Following the hearing, the magistrate ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional facility pending further proceedings.

The case was subsequently adjourned to June 6 for continuation of hearing.

The incident has sparked concern among parents and community members in Kano State, with renewed calls for stronger child protection mechanisms, improved monitoring of schools, and stricter enforcement of laws against sexual abuse involving minors.

Child rights advocates have also urged authorities to ensure that the victims receive adequate medical care, psychological support, and protection throughout the legal process.
