First lady, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, has commissioned and handed over the Renewed Hope Initiative’s Information Technology Centre for women and girls in Jigawa state on Tuesday.
In her speech at the commissioning, Mrs Tinubu said that in a quest for development, Nigeria must recognise the role of technology in gender equity.
Represented by the wife of the Vice President, Mrs Nana Shettima, Mrs Tinubu said there is need to ensure full participation of women in digital revolution.

According to her, “Through access to technology, we can unlock women’s potentials that will enable them contribute to economic growth, innovation and social progress.
“In the evolution of digital economy, women must not be left behind. Continous training and access to technology can open and provide access to employment.”
Mrs Tinubu further revealed that Nigeria is witnessing progress from girls and women in the digital space, saying that its really inspiring.
She then urged the beneficiaries to take full ownership of the centre and maximise learning advantages.
Earlier, the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (nitda), Mr Kashifu Inuwa, commended the first lady for supporting women.
He said that the partnership between his agency and the Renewed Hope Initiative of the first lady, reflects the Tinubu’s administration’s vision of inclusion.
The DG explained that the Tinubu administration’s vision towards inclusion is to ensure every woman is opportune to learn and contribute to the nation’s development.

According to Inuwa, “NITDA’s vision is to achieve an empowered nations, thriving on innovation through technology.
“To achieve our vision, we created an action plan that cannot be achieved without women.
“So in our partnership with RHI, we designed programmes to ensure about 40 percent inclusion of women.” Inuwa said.
In her remarks, the Jigawa state First lady, Mrs Hadiza Namadi, expressed delight over the commissioning of the centre.
She said that the project has complimented the Namadi administration’s agenda of printing women’s education in Jigawa state.
Mrs Namadi, on behalf of women in Jigawa state, pledged effective utilisation if the utilisation of the centre.
The E-learning centre was names after Mrs Oluremi Tinubu and was fully equiped with e-learning facilities.
