The Kano State Ministry for Higher Education has organized a two-day workshop on the development of higher education annual operation plan for all heads of tertiary institutions and the Kano State Scholarship Board.
The event was held at Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, on Friday.
In his opening declaration, the Commissioner, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofarmata, stated that the main objectives of the workshop are to ensure that participants are abreast of the budget performance of the state’s higher education sector and to support the development of the 2024 Annual Operation Plan (AOP) for the sector.

He also emphasized that capacity building will serve as a mechanism to streamline the sector’s yearly planner to align with the AOP for 2024, facilitating the implementation of the annual budget to achieve expected results, among other goals.
Dr. Yusuf Kofarmata highlighted the significance of the program, stating that it is the first of its kind since the creation of the ministry.
In a statement by the public relations officer Kano state higher education ministry Sanusi Abdullahi Kofar Naisa said the commissioner emphasized the importance of accurate planning in identifying problems, formulating budgets, and addressing developmental issues.
Furthermore, he revealed that the Kano State government prioritizes education, with Governor Abba Yusuf planning to declare a state of emergency for the sector.
He also announced the establishment of governing boards at RMK, Cars Tudunwada, and Ghari Cars for effective and smooth services at the colleges.
In address, Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai, the Vice Chancellor of the university expressed gratitude to the commissioner for initiating the workshop, describing it as a marvelous effort that will go a long way in solving financial issues, especially in budget formulation.
