The Islamic Republic of Iran is experiencing a nationwide internet blackout.
According to online monitoring group NetBlocks, as protests escalate over a deepening economic crisis.
In a statement posted on social media, NetBlocks said the disruption followed “a series of escalating digital censorship measures targeting protests across the country,” adding that the outage was hindering the public’s ability to communicate at a critical moment.

Protests have spread to cities across Iran since late December, driven by anger over a soaring cost of living and the sharp devaluation of the local currency.
Demonstrators have expressed frustration over growing economic hardship and declining purchasing power.
The internet shutdown has made it difficult to independently verify events on the ground.
Also, there was no immediate comment from Iranian authorities on the reported blackout.
