Russian Federation opposition leader and critics to President Vladimir Putin, Mr Alexei Navalny has slumped and died in prison at the age of 47.

Also, Navalny’s lawyer says ‘everything was fine’ during a visit two days ago, AFP News agency reports.

He died today at the Arctic prison colony where he was serving a 19-year-term, Russia’s federal penitentiary service said in a statement.
GLOBAL TRACKER recalled that Mr Navalny who was poisoned in 2020, plane was sent from Germany to evacuate Navalny from Russia for treatment.
He was imprisoned since January, 2021, with Western critics claiming charges are politically-motivated.

The leading opposition gained prominence for campaigns and protests against the Russian government and Putin.
He criticized Putin’s rule and conducted investigations into alleged high-level corruption.
