The Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) has deployed 1,119 personnel across Kano State to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Eid al-Fitr Sallah celebration in the state.

The large-scale deployment, which covers all 44 Local Government Areas, is aimed at strengthening security presence and supporting other conventional security agencies during the festive period.

Speaking on the operation, the Kano State Commander of the NFSS, Abdullahi Al’ameen, said the personnel have been strategically positioned across major prayer grounds, markets, highways, and vulnerable communities, including forested areas known for security concerns.

He explained that the deployment is part of proactive measures to prevent criminal activities, enhance surveillance, and ensure the safety of residents before, during, and after the Sallah celebrations.

According to him, the officers will work closely with other security agencies to provide intelligence gathering, patrol, and rapid response support, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach areas.

“Our personnel have been fully mobilized and deployed across the 44 local government areas to ensure that residents celebrate Sallah in a peaceful and secure environment,” he said.

Security expert noted that the inclusion of the NFSS in the Sallah security arrangement highlights the growing importance of community-based and forest-focused security operations, especially in states like Kano where rural and forest areas require constant monitoring.

Residents have expressed optimism that the heightened security presence will deter potential threats and create a safe atmosphere for worshippers and travelers during the festivities.

The deployment underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Forest Security Service to complement existing security frameworks and ensure public safety during major religious celebrations in Kano State.
