The peace accord championed by the Federal and Kaduna State Governments has brought relief to Birnin Gwari, a community that was once plagued by banditry and neglect.
According to a statement by His Royal Highness, Malam Zubair Jibril, OFR (Mai-Gwari II), Emir of Birnin Gwari, the peace accord has led to a significant reduction in banditry, killings, and kidnappings in the area.
“The long night of Birnin Gwari has ended, and the dawn we prayed for has come,” the Emir said, attributing the turnaround to deliberate leadership, divine mercy, and the collective resolve of leaders and citizens.

The Emir commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his courage and empathy, and Governor Uba Sani for his efforts in expanding opportunities in Birnin Gwari.
The peace accord has also led to the reopening of roads and farms, and the return of traders and farmers to their normal activities.
The rehabilitation of the 126-kilometre Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Road, approved in June 2025, is expected to further boost economic activities in the area.
The Emir called for continued partnership with the Federal and Kaduna State Governments, international development partners, and the private sector to consolidate peace and accelerate development in Birnin Gwari.
He also urged the upgrade of the Jibril Mai Gwari I Memorial Hospital to a Federal Medical Centre, citing its strategic importance in serving the people of Birnin Gwari and neighbouring communities.
The Emir’s statement highlighted the importance of people-centred security, development, and strong institutions in building lasting peace.
He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, the National Security Adviser, Governor Uba Sani, and all security agencies and community partners who contributed to the restoration of peace in Birnin Gwari.
The Emir also commended the resilience of the people of Birnin Gwari, saying, “Continue to uphold justice, kindness, and mutual respect. By Allah’s mercy, our land shall continue to prosper in peace, unity, and divine favour.”
