First Muslim, Young Man Elected as Mayor of Trump’s Loved New York City

In what was described as change of political dynasty in united states of America as well as strong message to US led Republican party, Zohran Mamdani, a 34-year-old democratic socialist, has made history by becoming the first Muslim and first South Asian mayor of New York City, defeating prominent figures including former governor of New York state Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa in a fiercely contested election.

Mamdani’s victory signals a progressive shift in American politics, were by sending strong message to Make America Great Again (MAGA) audiology that was led by president Donald Trump.

Mamdani policies and call for the arrest of israel prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu over alleged war crimes, crime against humanity and genocide in Gaza has earned him love among Americans who heavenly voted him to the office.

Report say Trump loved New york city more than any other city in the planet.

After he was declared winner, Zohran Mamdani delivered his acceptance speech on Tuesday night before cheering supporters, he was flanked by his parents — father Mahmood Mamdani and mother Mira Nair.

Other policies who contribute to his success includes Freezing Rent of Houses and shops, provision of Fast and free buses for transportation, Free childcare and Taxes on Wealthiest New Yorkers to fund developmental project for less income earners.

In the same vein, former presidents and leading politicians have started sending congratulatory messages to Mamdani for his victory.

Former US President Barack Obama has welcomed the victory of several Democratic candidates during Tuesday’s elections, but said there’s “plenty of work to do” for the party.

Also, one of the first politicians to back Mamdani, senator Bernie Sanders congratulates the first Muslim Mayor of one of the greatest city in globe.

“Starting at 1% in the polls, @ZohranKMamdani pulled off one of the great political upsets in modern American history,” Sanders said in a statement on X.

Who is the New Mayor ?

Mahmood Mamdani, the father of Zohran aged 79, was born in Mumbai, India, but grew up in Uganda, where his son Zohran was also born.

A veteran anthropologist, Mahmood is a professor at Columbia University and continues to maintain links with universities in Uganda.

Nair, 68, is a celebrated filmmaker who has delivered multiple crossover hits touching on India’s evolution into a modern society and the identity struggles of its vast diaspora.

Her best-known films include the Denzel Washington-starrer Mississippi Masala and the 2001 classic, Monsoon Wedding.

Mississippi Masala was set against the backdrop of the expulsion of South Asians from Uganda under Idi Amin, an exodus in which her husband was also caught up, in 1972. Monsoon Wedding explored child sexual abuse within traditional Indian families, a subject that was largely taboo at the time.
