The Independent National Electoral Commission has declined to recognize the Kabiru Turaki-led National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, citing ongoing litigation and existing court rulings.
In a letter dated December 22, 2025, signed by its Secretary, Dr. Rose Oriaran-Anthony, INEC stated it cannot comply with requests to acknowledge or publish the list of officers reportedly elected at the PDP’s National Convention in Ibadan on November 15–16, 2025.

Nigerian Tracker reports that the commission clarified that its stance is guided by current court judgments and unresolved legal proceedings concerning the PDP’s internal leadership dispute.
INEC emphasized that recognizing any factional leadership while the matter is still sub judice would be inappropriate.
