The executive governor of Kano state Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has said that he has fulfilled 85% of his campaign promises challenging civil society organizations including nonprofit organizations one Kano Agenda to prove him wrong if his claims were untrue.
Governor Yusuf disclosed this while addressing participants of the two-day workshop organized by One Kano Agenda to discuss ways to improve the state’s economy and politics held at Khalifa Isiyaka Rabi’u University (KHAIRUN) in Kano on wednesday.
Yusuf represented by the secretary to the state government Alhaji Faruk Umar Ibrahim reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the One Kano Agenda, stressing that unity and collective responsibility are essential to restoring the state’s lost glory and driving sustainable development.
The governor urged Kano residents to reflect on Kano’s status four to five decades ago, when the state was a reference point in education, commerce, agriculture, youth development, cultural values, and strong traditional institutions admired across the country.
He said reclaiming Kano’s historic position requires deliberate efforts and cooperation across political, social, and cultural lines.
“I am urging Kano state residents to imbibe the culture of unity that would also help tackle key challenges such as drug abuse, while fostering peace and shared prosperity in the state,” said the governor.
“The administration of executive governor of Kano state Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has fulfilled 85% of his campaign promises, and he has told me to challenge one Kano Agenda to prove him wrong if he have’it do it, and he also affirmed that that the remaining 15 per cent would be completed before the end of his tenure and bring fresh other promises,” said Umar Faruk.
In a remark, the Kano state for information and internal affairs comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, called on individuals to embrace sacrifice and dedication in the collective task of rebuilding Kano.
Waiya said the administration’s intervention for senior citizens and pensioners who dedicated their lives to the state, and announced plans to extend similar gestures to former local government chairmen and councillors who served between 2014 and 2023.
The commissioner urged business community, civil society organizations, and philanthropist to complement government efforts in reclaiming the lost glory of Kano state.
The workshop is in attendance, the civil society organizations, youth associations, students association and other groups, with the discussions focused on Kano’s development and practical steps toward addressing its economic, social and political challenges.
