Abdullahi Muhammad has been elected as the new Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Pyramid Radio Chapel in Kano.
The election, which was held today at the premises of Radio Nigeria Pyramid FM, Kano, recorded a peaceful and orderly process with a total of 36 eligible members accredited to vote, with 27 member actively votes.
At the end of the exercise, Abdullahi Muhammad emerged winner of the chairmanship position, having secured the highest number of votes (16) casted by members of the chapel defeating Yakubu Gwagwarwa who secure 11 votes.

Also declared elected was Muktar Yahaya Shehu, who won the position of Secretary, while Zulaihat Ahmed Uba emerged as the Treasurer of the chapel, while Sani Idris Maiwaya as Auditor both were elected unopposed.
Also, Garba Musa Hamza was elected as vice chairman who secured 17 votes against Zakariyya Adam Jigirya with 10 votes.
Meanwhile, Shehu Suleiman Sharfadi was elected as financial secretary having secured 14 votes defeating his closest runner Adamu Dabo who secured 13 votes.
In the same vein, Kamal Yakubu Ali has been elected to the office of assistant secretary who gained 17 votes against Ibrahim Sani Gama with 10 votes.
The electoral committee led by Malam Shu’aibu Sani Bagwai described the process as free, fair, and credible, commending members for their maturity and adherence to NUJ guidelines throughout the exercise.
The newly elected executives are expected to pilot the affairs of the Chapel for the next three years, with a pledge to promote professionalism, unity, and the welfare of members.
