The Kano State Government has said it will soon bring an end to the long-standing emirate crisis in the state, in which two individuals are laying claim to the throne: Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, who resides at Gidan Rumfa, and Emir Aminu Ado Bayero, who occupies the Nassarawa Palace under government security protection.
The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, said the government has designed special measures to restore peace and stability within the emirate institution.
Speaking on one local radio state “Muhasa Radio”, Waiya noted that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s recent defection to the APC earlier this week could help create room for a peaceful resolution of the crisis.

He added that the claimants to the emirate throne could play a key role in resolving the dispute, either through reconciliation or by stepping aside from the position.
The state government, he said, will engage with all relevant stakeholders and ensure that the issue does not lead to violence or disrupt governance in the state.
Waiya stressed that all steps being taken are guided by respect for the law, traditional institutions, and the interests of the people of Kano.
