Kano Governor Mourns as Road Accident Claims 30 Lives

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Sunday mourned at least 30 people killed in a fatal road accident at Kwanar Barde in Gezawa Local Government Area and ordered free medical care for survivors.

The governor’s reaction was contained in a statement signed by Direct general media and publicity Kano state government house Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Yusuf described the early-morning crash as heartbreaking and a tragic loss not only to the affected families but to the entire state.

According to reports, the accident involved a trailer traveling toward Gujungu that allegedly crashed due to reckless driving.

More than 30 people were confirmed dead, while several others sustained serious injuries and are receiving treatment in hospitals across the state.

The governor prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and asked God to grant their families the strength to bear the loss. He also wished the injured a speedy recovery.

Yusuf directed the Kano State Ministry of Health to ensure that all victims admitted to hospitals receive free and adequate medical care without delay.

He also instructed the Office of the Special Adviser on Humanitarian Affairs to immediately assess the casualties and implement support measures for the families of the victims.

The governor warned motorists, particularly drivers of heavy-duty vehicles, against reckless driving and urged strict compliance with traffic regulations to prevent similar tragedies.
