The Kano State Government has trained 70 employees who were transferred from the Kano State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) to the ministry of finance and economic development.
The state commissioner for finance and economic development, Alhaji Isma’il Aliyu Danmaraya declared the training session open on Monday.
He said the one week in house capacity building training of the KIRS staff deployed to the Ministry of finance and economic development themed: “integrating Tax Experience into financial Management: Building competent Accountants for sustainable public financial management (PFM) System” focused on equipping the staff with a techniques on how to perform their activities as Auditors, Accountants and financial managers not revenue collectors as they specialized.

The Commissioner, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Sabi’u Shu’aibu Kura, said the training is in line with the Kano State government’s commitment to improving government services and ensuring transparency and fairness in the management of government funds.
Sanusi Maigida Umar, the Director of Monitoring and Training at the Kano State Accountant General’s Office, said there is a difference between collecting funds and monitoring and adhering to spending rules.
“This training centered on equipping and training them to be competent Accountants, Auditors and financial managers not experienced revenue of tax officers as they are, we want them to be competent in the delivery of services inline of financial instructions,” said Maigida.
