The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) says it has started preparation for the conduct of bye elections in two wards across two local government area of the state.
Professor Sani Lawal Malumfashi, the chairman of KANSIEC disclosed this in a statement sent to GLOBAL TRACKER by the public relations officer of the commission Bashir Habib Yahaya.
According to the statement, the bye election is due to the death of councilor representing Kofar Mazugal ward in Dala local government as well as the death of another councilor in Matan Fada ward in Ghari local government area all in Kano state.

“Upon the tragic death of the Councilor representing Kofar Mazugal Ward and Councilor representing Matan Fada Ward of Dala and Ghari Local Governments respectively and in compliance with Section 30 of the Electoral Act, 2022 and Section 76(2) (Senate) and Section 116 (2) (House of Reps) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) hereby informed the general public and all critical stakeholders that, it is set and prepared for the conduct of bye election affecting these two wards,” said the statement.
According to the statement, the election is scheduled to tentatively takes effect on 13th December, 2025.
It added that the Commission sadly commiserate with the Kano State Government, the people of Dala and Ghari Local Governments for the painful and irreparable loss.
