The Coalition of Kwankwasiyya Support Groups has called for strict adherence to constitutional procedures in the handling of allegations against the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, warning that it may institute legal action if due process is not followed.

The coalition, led by its chairman, Usman Dan-mama, made the position known during a press conference where it raised concerns over the allegations of gross misconduct, fraud, financial mismanagement and abuse of office reportedly leveled against the deputy governor by the Kano State House of Assembly.

Addressing journalists, Ambassador Dan-mama emphasized that while allegations against public office holders should be taken seriously, any investigation or constitutional action must strictly comply with the provisions of the law and follow transparent procedures.

“The issue at hand is not about defending wrongdoing, but about ensuring that the rule of law and due process are respected in the handling of the allegations against the deputy governor,” he said.

The coalition questioned the basis of the allegations, asking the Assembly to provide clear evidence and detailed explanations regarding the claims of fraud and financial mismanagement.

According to the group, the lawmakers must clarify who allegedly provided the funds in question, where the money was received, and through which channels the transactions occurred. It argued that such information is necessary to establish the credibility of the accusations and to ensure fairness in the process.

Dan-mama further noted that the allegations, which the Assembly reportedly described as impeachable offences, must be supported with verifiable proof before any constitutional step is taken.

“Serious allegations such as fraud, gross misconduct and abuse of office cannot be treated lightly. They require credible evidence, transparent investigation and strict compliance with constitutional procedures,” he said.

The coalition therefore urged the Kano State House of Assembly to handle the matter with transparency, fairness and respect for democratic principles, warning that failure to do so could undermine public confidence in governance.

Dan-mama stated that the coalition would not hesitate to seek legal redress if it observes that due process is ignored or that the allegations are being handled outside the constitutional framework.

“If the proper procedures are not followed, we will be left with no option but to approach the court of law to seek justice and ensure that the rule of law prevails,” he added.

The coalition maintained that its intervention is aimed at safeguarding democratic institutions, protecting constitutional order and ensuring that justice is done in accordance with the law in Kano State.

Observers say the development highlights growing political attention surrounding the allegations against the deputy governor, while stakeholders continue to call for transparency and strict adherence to legal procedures in addressing the matter.
