The Life line Initiatives for Widows, Empowerment and Economic Development (LIWEED) in collaboration with the rule of law and anti-corruption (ROLAC) program has organized a sensitization rally against Sexually Gender Based Violence (SGBV) in Tarauni local government area of Kano state.
The rally organized with the support of 30 years of international institute for democracy and electoral assistant started from the Tarauni local Hisbah Board to Zaria road to Road side motor park and terminate at Unguwa Uku motor park all in Tarauni local government focused on sensitizing the general public on the effect of SGBV and how to report it for prompt response.
LIWEED Executive director Hajiya Saratu Maigida represented by Hannatu Ibrahim said the rally also distributes flies with inscription on how to creat awareness campaign on Sexual Gender Based Violence and the established referral mechanisms for examinations as well as guidance of victims.

“In the motor part, we organized travelers, and business people to sensitized them on the effects of SGBV, how to report it and ways to help the victims,” said Saratu Maigida.
“From the engagements and comments we are receiving shows have the visited communities are supporting this movement and promising to contribute in ensuring that the chain of silence on SGBV is break and no one should commit such offense and go unpunished,” she added.
She urged stakeholders especially the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Person (NAPTIP), the Nigerian Police, Kano Hisbah Board, LIWEED staff and other to work hand-in-hand so that the said targets would be achieved.
