Nearly 500 Empowered as Kano Land Commissioner Commends Governor Yusuf for Garko’s Development

In a landmark empowerment initiative, Honourable Abduljabbar Muhammad Umar, the Kano State Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, has empowered over 500 (both direct and indirect) youths, ward heads, and political stakeholders in Garko Local Government Area, providing motorcycles and cash support to strengthen grassroots engagement and socio-economic development.

Abduljabbar made the declaration during a large-scale empowerment programme held in Garko Local Government Area, where hundreds of beneficiaries, including youths, ward heads, and political stakeholders, received motorcycles and financial support aimed at boosting livelihoods and strengthening grassroots participation.

He described the governor’s initiatives as pivotal in improving roads, healthcare, water management, and local markets, emphasizing that such efforts are enhancing the quality of life for residents.

“I want to clearly state that I fully support the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for the massive infrastructural and developmental projects he is executing across all the 44 local government areas,” Abduljabbar said.

150 Motorcycle cycle distributed

“What we are witnessing today in Kano is inclusive development development that touches the grassroots, improves lives, and gives hope to our people.”

The empowerment exercise saw the donation of motorcycles to 100 youths, ward heads, and political stakeholders, while cash donations of ₦500,000, ₦300,000, and ₦200,000 were distributed to a total of 500 beneficiaries, cutting across 10 wards in Garko Local Government Area.

According to the Commissioner, the programme was designed to empower beneficiaries economically, enhance mobility, and strengthen political and community engagement at the grassroots level.

“This empowerment is about putting tools in the hands of our people,” Abduljabbar explained.

“When you empower youths and community leaders, you are empowering the entire society. These motorcycles and financial supports will help our beneficiaries improve their livelihoods and better serve their communities.”

He added that the initiative brought together all stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in Garko, noting that unity and inclusiveness remain key to sustainable development.

Abduljabbar, who hails from Garko Local Government Area, said the programme reflected his personal commitment to giving back to his community while complementing the state government’s development agenda.

“Garko is my home, and I understand the needs of our people,” he said. “This empowerment is part of our collective responsibility to support government efforts and uplift the standard of living of our people.”

Abduljabbar urged beneficiaries to make good use of the empowerment items and continue supporting the present administration.

Meanwhile, Former Chairman of Garko Local Government Area, Honourable Yahaya Adamu Garin Ali, commended Abduljabbar for the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful.

He recalled that during his tenure, he distributed over 500 motorcycles and pledged to continue supporting empowerment efforts.

“What Honourable Abduljabbar is doing today is commendable, during my time as chairman, we empowered over 500 people with motorcycles, and I remain committed to supporting initiatives that benefit our youths and communities,” said Garin-ali.

Similarly, the current Garko Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, praised both Abduljabbar and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for their unwavering commitment to the people of Garko and Kano State at large.

“The people of Garko truly appreciate the Governor and the Commissioner for their continuous support,” Abdullahi said.

Former Kano State Commissioner for Information, Ladidi Ibrahim Garko, also commended the state government for ongoing projects in Garko, listing key interventions such as the reconstruction of a five-kilometre road, the upgrade of the Cottage Hospital to a General Hospital, the dredging of Kafinchiri Dam, and the upgrade of local government markets.

He described the projects as critical to healthcare delivery, economic growth, and infrastructure development in the area.

Representing Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Political Adviser to the Governor, Alhaji Hamza Buhari Bakwana, assured that Kano State would continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Bakwana also commended President Tinubu for approving the Wuju-Wuju Road project in Kano State, valued at over ₦40 billion, describing it as a major federal investment that would boost transportation and economic activities.
