The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) is urging the Kano state Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf to stay in the party amid internal conflicts within the Kwankwasiyya group.

The party urged Yusuf to shelve his purported plan to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), amid concerns about loyalty within the movement led by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as the party grappled with internal tensions.

The Chairman fractional group, Kano State chapter of NNPP Alhaji Hashim Suleiman Dungurawa told journalists in Kano that the leadership is fully aware of the unfolding situation.

Dungurawa said, “For the sake of Allah and the Prophet, we appeal to them not to leave this party and not to join the APC, which the masses and voters have rejected.”

He stressed that “We hope that they will remain in this party to help those who are suffering and to advance education, agriculture, commerce, and other sectors”.

Dungurawa emphasised that “We have done everything to persuade them to remain patient and not defect, but that has become difficult.”

“The Kano State party, the national party, and our national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, together with other leaders, do not approve of what is happening”.

Addressing rumours of a rift between Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Senator Kwankwaso, he dismissed claims targeting Kano state Deputy Governor Rufai Hanga, Sanusi Surajo, and himself.

In his words, “These accusations are unfounded. Our loyalty to Senator Kwankwaso has never wavered. If anyone has evidence, let them present it,” Dungurawa insisted.

He warned party members not to fall for false documents or malicious reports. “At this point, nobody should put their names on any document being circulated by mischief makers”.

The NNPP’s call comes barely 24 hours after the director general of protocol to Kano state Governor Abdullahi Rogo publicly urged his boss to defect to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to the development of the state.

The governor may be seen as betrayal by satuch supporters of Kwankwaso the development that may trigger political unrest between Kwankwasiyya support and that of the state government.
