NUJ Kano Commends MAAUN Founder, Sufi, for Training Members on AI and Content Creation

The Kano state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano Online Media Chapel (KOMC) and the state chapter of Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) have commended a one-day training workshop organised to enhance journalists’ skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and content creation.

The workshop was organised in Kano to celebrate the 38th birthday of founder of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo and was held at American Corner of the Murtala Muhammad Library in Kano.

The conference, titled “The Role of Artificial Intelligence and Content Creation: Impact in the Year 2026”, facilitated by Musa Abdullahi Sufi, and attended by journalists, content creators and members of both organizations have contributed positively in guiding journalists on the latest technology and innovation used in their area of work.

‎The Chairman of NAWOJ Kano State Chapter Bahijja Malam Kabara, and the Chairman of Kano Online Journalists Association, Comrade Abubakar Abdulkadir Dangambo, said the training came at a time when AI technology is increasingly impacting journalism and media.

‎ According to them, the conference helped to increase understanding of how AI can be used in a systematic and ethical manner, while improving the creativity and credibility of news in this era of technological change.

‎The leaders of the organizations urged the participants to use the knowledge they gained in improving their skills and adhere to the principles of journalism, especially as they face new challenges in the media landscape in the future.

The duo also commended Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo for using his birthday celebration to support in training the Journalists who will go a long way in the development of journalism in Kano state, northern Nigeria and the country by extension.
