Police Arrest Dealers, Recover Over 4,000 Illicit Drugs in Jigawa

The Jigawa state police command said it has arrested suspected drugs dealers and found one in possession of four thousand six hundred and fifty-eight (4,658) wraps of various kinds of hard drugs.

SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the command public relations officer disclosed this in a statement sent to journalists including GLOBAL TRACKER correspondent.

According to the statement, the dealers were arrested in almost ten local governments in the state namely Dutse, Guri, Gumel, Sara in Gwaram local government, Shuwarin in Dutse Local government, Sundimina and Birnin Kudu in Birnin Kudu local government, Kazaure, Malam Madori, Ringim and Kafin Hausa local government area of the state.

It said “the Jigawa State Police Command has sustained its aggressive onslaught against drug dealers and other criminal elements across the state as part of its unwavering commitment to rid the state of illicit drugs and related crimes.

“In a series of coordinated intelligence-led raids carried out across several Local Government Areas, operatives of the Command arrested a drug dealer, one Mutari Shu’aibu ‘m’ age 20yrs of Dutse Local Government Area, alongside other suspects in Guri, Gumel, Sara, Shuwarin, Sundimina, Kazaure, M/Madori, Ringim, B/Kudu, and K/Hausa towns.

“During the operations, the suspects were found in possession of four thousand six hundred and fifty-eight (4,658) wraps and quantities of illicit drugs of various kinds, suspected to be hard drugs, which were intended for distribution within communities.

The statemenet further said the exhibits have since been recovered and recorded as evidence.

Shiisu said all the suspects have since been arranged in court to face the law.

It added that the state commissioner of Police Dahiru Muhammad has commended the officers involved for their professionalism, diligence, and commitment to duty. He reiterated that the Command will not relent on its toes to clamp down on drug trafficking, abuse, and other criminal activities that threaten public safety, security, and the future of youths in the state.

The Command also calls on members of the public to continue to support the police by providing timely and credible information on criminal activities.

The Command also assures the good people of the state of its readiness to ensure a safe, secure, and drug-free society.
