The Kano state police command has confirmed the death of one person and arrest of 9 people in connection with the mob attack in the Garko local government police station of Kano state.
The spokesman of the command SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed the development to journalist in Kano on saturday.
According to the statement, the incident, which occurred on friday, September 4, followed the arrest of three suspects over an alleged case of culpable homicide in Garko Local Government Area.

Police said nine people have so far been arrested for their role in the Violence
According to Kiyawa, the chaos began after officers from Wudil Area Command transferred the suspects to Garko Division for further investigation.
Angry youths, armed with sticks and stones, stormed the station demanding “justice” for the victim.
The mob vandalized the Division, set a police patrol vehicle ablaze and destroyed three others belonging to Hisbah and the Garko Local Government Council. Windows of the station were also shattered.
The violence turned tragic when an exploding burning tyre struck one of the attackers, killing him instantly. Three others sustained injuries, while three police officers were rushed to Wudil Hospital.
Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, quickly ordered containment operations and engaged community stakeholders to restore calm.
“The Command will not tolerate lawlessness or mob justice,” SP Kiyawa said in a statement. “We urge residents to channel grievances through lawful means.”
Bakori assured residents that the police remain committed to protecting lives and property, and vowed that those behind the violence would be brought to justice.
The Police Command warned that further arrests will be made as investigations continue.
