The president and commander in chief of the armed forces federal republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared a nationwide security emergency in response to rising insecurity across the country.
As part of the new measures, he authorised large-scale recruitment into the police, Armed Forces, and other security agencies.
In a statement the President personally signed said the Nigeria Police Force will recruit an additional 20,000 officers raising this year’s total to 50,000 while NYSC camps will be used as temporary training centres.

Officers withdrawn from VIP protection will undergo accelerated retraining for deployment to high-risk areas.
The President also directed the Department of State Services (DSS) to deploy trained forest guards immediately and to recruit more personnel to flush out terrorists and bandits operating in forests.
He commended security agencies for rescuing abducted victims in Kebbi and Kwara States and assured the public that efforts continue to free others still in captivity, including students in Niger State.
Tinubu encouraged the military to intensify operations while upholding discipline and integrity.
