A seasoned lawyer and politician, Barrister Salisu Salisu Umar, has said that senator representing Kano North Senatorial District Senator Barau Jibrin is saddened by the efforts in improving supply of energy to revive collapsed companies across Kano State which is why he is doing everything possible to ensure that Abdullahi Garba Ramat is not screened and confirmed as the Chairman of the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

Salisu Umar disclosed this at a press conference in Kano, where he condemned the Deputy Senate President for his role in ensuring that the Senate did not confirm Ramat for the NERC Chairmanship.

“Where are the companies in Kano State now? Most of them have collapsed, most of them were out of production due to power shortages, local businesses run by women have been destroyed, these are the problems that Barau does not want to be revived, and we assure him that this conspiracy is like giving us a political war invitation and we will fight you until we defeat you,” said Barrister Umar.

“The Abdullahi Garba Ramat’s seat is a seat that represents all Nigerian youths, especially indigenes of Kano State, therefore opposing it is like opposing the development of Nigerian youths, and we will have to retire Barau from politics in Nigerian,” said Umar.

“About 28 seats will be given to Kano people, and most of them are just positions of power that are not of much important, this seat that Ramat is trying to win is a big seat that will be beneficial to the people of Kano, so Barau is also trying to distance himself from the people of Kano,” he said.

Salisu Umar said that if the NERC seat is lost, they will take steps to follow up on all the seat Barau is burying and ensure that he never win again.

“We will make sure he never win any position again in Nigeria, whether it is Kano North or governorship election or even the presidential election,” added Umar.
