Concerns continue to grow over the worsening security situation in Nigeria, particularly in the northern region.

One of the latest voices expressing concern is Hon. Muhammad Radhi Aminu, popularly known as O Musa, who has lamented what he described as the Federal Government’s inadequate response to the persistent killings and kidnappings across the region.

In a statement personally signed by him, Hon. Muhammad Radhi Aminu expressed disappointment over what he termed the apparent lack of urgency by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in addressing the continuous loss of innocent lives.

According to him, it is troubling that criminal elements, especially bandits and kidnappers operating in North-West Nigeria, appear to be carrying out their activities with little resistance.
“There is serious concern about the direction Nigeria is heading in terms of security under the APC-led government, especially without decisive measures to end the crisis,” he said.

Hon. O Musa cited the recent case of a young National Youth Service Corps member who was abducted by kidnappers. Despite the payment of a ransom reportedly amounting to ₦10 million and motorcycles, the victim was still killed by his captors.
“It is heartbreaking to see such cruelty where a young man was killed even after the kidnappers received the ransom. What then is the value of a government that cannot protect the lives and property of its citizens?” he asked.

Hon. Muhammad Radhi Aminu, who is aspiring to contest for the House of Representatives under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2027 general elections, also criticized the 10th National Assembly, accusing lawmakers of failing to hold the executive accountable on issues of security and financial management.

He alleged that the legislature has not effectively checked the executive arm regarding security strategies and the implementation of the federal budget.

The politician therefore urged members of the National Assembly to wake up to their responsibilities and focus on the mandate given to them by the people rather than acting as supporters of the executive arm of government.

He concluded by stressing that decisive and immediate action is necessary to restore security and public confidence in the country’s leadership.
