Shekarau @70: Nigeria’s Presidency Should React to Trump’s Threat Diplomatically, Not with His Arrogance Style — Ex-Kano Governor

The former Governor of Kano state senator Malam Ibrahim Shekarau has advised Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the president of the federal republic of Nigeria to follow a diplomatic process in responding to threat made by United States president Donald Trump for possible military action in Nigeria over alleged christian genocide in the country.

Shekarau who is former minister of Education in Nigeria disclosed this in an interactive session with journalist, on the sideline of his seventy (70) year birthday celebration held in Kano on Wednesday.

According to him, the Trump led US was feed with wrong information on the security situation in Nigeria and act in a wrong way, the development which course statements and counter comments on the issue.

The former governor believed that the allegations made by president Trump on christian genocide don’t reflect the real situation on ground in Nigeria, adding that only diplomatic process can resolved the problems.

“The federal government should address this issue diplomatically, politically and quietly without raising any dust, as i said, two wrongs cannot make a right, if president Trump decide to be so arrogant, Nigerian government should not approach it arrogantly, America has been feed with wrong information and our duty now is to counter that wrong information with the correct one and i am sure they will understand it,” said Shekarau.

The former governor criticized president Tinubu led administration in Nigeria for its failure to address economic and security challenges, saying the federal government performed poorly in addressing the two key problems which make life difficulty fo many Nigerians.

He reaffirmed his commitment and support to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) saying that despite internal and external crisis rocking the party, it would remained the leading opposition in the country, hopping to win presidency.

Shekarau who discuss extensively on his journey of life said that his journey through moments of joy and hardship had taught him valuable lessons of truthfulness, tranquility, humility and forgiveness.

“I have forgiven everyone who has wronged me, and I am seeking forgiveness from all those I may have wronged. I don’t know if I have much to leave behind, but I have learned countless lessons over these 70 years — both good and bad. The teachings of Islam have guided me along the right path, and that is what I am most proud of,” added senator Shekarau.
