Trump Visits Gulf Countries, Lifts Sanctions on Syria Amid $142 Billion US-Saudi Defense Agreement

The united state president Donald Trump is currently visiting Gulf countries as part of the US strategies in ending Middle east tension and strengthened economic ties with many nations.

Trump who first visit Saudi Arabia announced a significant shift in American foreign policy by pledging to lift longstanding sanctions on Syria, alongside sealing a mammoth $142 billion arms deal with Saudi Arabia.

Speaking in the Saudi capital on Monday, Mr Trump called the Kingdom “our strongest partner,” marking the first stop of his major foreign tour aimed at bolstering economic ties and investment flows between the United States and Gulf nations.

During the visit, Saudi foreing minister praises Trump’s ‘courageous decision’ to lift Syria sanctions, saying “We can now bring you more remarks from the Saudi foreign minister.”

He said Syria is “incredibly grateful” to Trump “for taking the courageous decision to lift sanctions” and hopes other countries will follow suit.

“I know this is not an easy decision, but we believe very, very strongly that this is a necessary decision,” said Prince Faisal, adding that after many years of suffering, the Syrian people deserve a chance at a “better future”.

He cited the progress with Syria as a “case in point” for how engagement with the US can advance regional security and stability.

Trump meets Syria’s new leader and former Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) comander Al Juliani in Riyadh.

But, report say the new Syria leader is reportedly going to offer all the Syrian natural resources to Trump, simmilar to Ukraine.

Meanwhile, a business deals and and security cooperation top the agenda as Trump holds talks with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in the Qatari capital Doha.

According to Al-jazeera media network this is the first visit by a US president to Qatar in more than 20 years.

Earlier in the day, Trump reaffirmed America’s strategic commitment and partnership with the region in speech at the summit of the United States and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

He met his Syrian counterpart Ahmed al-Sharaa on the sidelines of the summit a day after announcing to lift Syria sanctions.

Trump received a lavish welcome in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, the first day of his trip.

The two countries signed a $142bn defence sales agreement as part of a Saudi Arabian commitment to invest $600bn in the United States.

Trump will conclude his four-day visit to the Gulf region in the United Arab Emirates tomorrow.
