We’re Now Focusing on Technology, Professionalism in Dental Care Services Across Nigeria — NDTA President

The Nigerian Dental Therapists’ Association (NDTA) says it is now focusing integration of technology in Dental practice and exploring professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities and protection of Oral health.

The National president of the Association Comrade Fashim Amayah Zeta disclosed this in an interview with journalist at the 21st National scientific conference and annual general meeting(AGM), themed: “Technology and Professionalism in Dental Care Delivery” held in Kano on Thursday.

According to him, after the conference, stakeholders at the union will come up with a memory that will be communicated to the federal government of Nigeria as input in the ongoing planned policy on Oral health care in Nigeria.

“At the end of this conference we want achieve a stage were by we come up with a memor that we will sent to the government because the government already has a memory in place on Oral health policy,” said comrade Fashim.

“The world has go ahead in Dental care delivery, and their need for us to knee on the way the world has change technologically in dental care delivery, and we can only achieve that if we persuades the technology’s infact in our day-to-day activities,” said the president.

The president assured their commitment in engaging with stakeholders, members of the media and the general public in sensitizing people on the importance of maintaining Oral health care across the country.

In a remark, comrade Nura Ali Sa’id, the chairman of Kano state chapter of NDTA said the AGM was scheduled to hold in Kano in recognition of high numbers of health facilities and professionals rendering oral health care services in the state.

According to the chairman, over thirty (30) healthcare facilities in Kano state renders Oral health services namely the facilities in Rogo, Wudil, Gwale, Takai, Minjibir, Sumaila, Bebeji, Gano, Dawakin Kudu, Tofa, Kumbotso, Mariri, Dambatta, Gwarzo and other facilities across the state.

He urged traditional rulers and community leaders to sensitized the general public on the importance of maintaining Oral health and visit facilities to sought for medical and professional advise.

Speaking earlier, the state minister of health Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako represented by the chief medical director of Abuja national hospital Professor Raji Mahmoud said through the renowned hope Agenda, the federal government will not only supporting federal health facilities, but encouraging states and local governments’ own to offers oral care to patients across the country.

Professor Raji reaffirmed the federal governments’ commitment in designing of policies and programs aimed at safeguarding people’s health.
