The Mari-care foundation for Widows, Single Parents, Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Nigeria has called on governments at all levels, policy makers and stakeholders to workout modalities and increased sensitization campaign against Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
The executive director of the foundation Mrs Ola Tayo disclosed this at a sensitization campaign in Unguwa-Uku primary healthcare facility of Tarauni local government area of Kano state as part of the campaign in commemorating 2025 World HPV Day.
Mrs Tayo said the facility were selected due to categories of patient seeking medical attention which cut across local government areas out of the Kano metropolis.

She said “As medical doctors told us, HPV can cause cervical cancer, which is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths among women in Nigeria, but with the HPV vaccine, children can be protected against this risk”.
“Parent should take all the necessary steps for their children to be safe, healthy and alive freely from fear of cancer,” said Tayo.
“The HPV vaccine is usually given to pre-teens, simple injection that can prevent HPV-related cancers and diseases. And it’s not just for girls – boys can also get vaccinated to protect themselves and their future partners,” an expert brief the group who met during the training.
In an interview with GLOBAL TRACKER correspondent, some of the caregivers and parents lauded the commitment of SWOCHI as promised to enlightened their counter-parts in the rural community.
