World Pneumonia Day 2025: SWOCHI Urges Caregivers to Priorities Vaccination

The Society for Women and Child Health Initiatives (SWOCHI) has urged women and caregivers in the country priorities vaccination to their children against killer disease especially pneumonia.

Malam Sharif Abubakar, the chief executive officer of SWOCHI disclosed this in Kano on Thursday while commemoration of world pneumonia day celebrated on 12th November annually.

According to him, with pneumonia leading malaria, HIV/AIDs and others in killing children across the globe, vaccination remained crucial in tacking the spade of the disease.

Finding by this newspaper indicate that more than 100 organizations representing the interests of children joined forces as the Global Coalition against Child Pneumonia to hold the first World Pneumonia Day on 12 November 2009, the day which continue to inspired health professional on the need to work together in fighting the children’s killer disease.

“Data available at our disposal in SWOCHI indicate that Pneumonia is a leading cause of death in children under five in Kano and Nigeria at large, all hands must be on deck to address this issue including timely release of funds to fight the melanie as well as training of healthcare personnel,” said Sharif.
