Wowo Surajo Foundation Distributes Farming Inputs to 100 Farmers in Katsina

A Foundation in Katsina State, has mobilised 100 farmers under the Wowo Surajo Empowerment Foundation and support them with farming inputs, saying it’s a way of ensuring food security and also engaging young people in meaningful and productive ventures.

The Chairman of the foundation, Alhaji Shamsu Wowo Surajo disclosed this while presenting the farming inputs to the farmers in Dutsinma, Katsina State.

Shamsu Wowo said the program is aimed at complementing government efforts toward producing food and cash crops as well as bomper harvest during this year’s rainy season farming as the state is committed to youth empowerment.

He said Agriculture employs 70 per cent of the population, adding that, they are working to ensure its effective practice and promised to extend the programme to the neighboring local government areas and the state at large.

The Chairman who is also the Philanthropist and an Astiute politician called on wealthy individuals and organizations to support government policy and programs that have direct bearing on human life.

According to him, each farmer especially those to plantil maize would receive4 bags of Npk, 15,15,15 and 2bags of Urea, 15kg of maize seed and 10kg of Cowpea white while those to plant Sorghum are to receive 2 bags of Npk 20,10,10 and one bag of Urea, 10kg of Sorghum and 10kg of soya beans.

Speaking earlier, the Special Guest of honour, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Makarfi commended the effort of the foundation and called others to borrow a leaf from them, adding that women program will soon be introduce to enable them to farm in their matrimonial houses.

“We aim to empower women by providing training workshops on sustainable farming practices, financial literacy, and business management skills,” He said.

He said said the initiative is aimed to inspire a new generation of young farmers men and women adding that, over 100 women in agriculture would be empowered through the programme to reflected a collective commitment to food security, economic empowerment, and sustainable Agriculture.

In his remark the coordinator of the Program Mummaru Tela Sabon Garin Safana urged the beneficiaries to take the opportunity seriously, advising them to make judicious use of the commodities given to them.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the foundation to empower people of the state so as to reduce unemployment and fostering self-reliance through farming and irrigation services.

Similarly, Malam Sabiu Ibrahim, called on state and federal governments to find ways of utilizing the Agricultural potentials in Zone Dam to enable farmers to have access to it through irrigation services.

According to him, this will expressed Government’s commitment to fostering an environment where everyone would have the opportunity to thrive through agriculture.
